My first excursion out of the United States took place three years ago, it was Spring Break 2007. I took off for a Canadian adventure with my sister that we would not soon forget.
We arrived at Niagara Falls late in the afternoon and were greeted by the cold, harsh Canadian air. After checking in, we set off to find my first alcoholic beverage. At the age of nineteen I was giddy to find this beverage at T.G.I. Friday's located in our very own hotel lobby. After being disappointed with the beverage I chose, I quickly switched with my sister who had a much yummier drink, a frozen strawberry margarita.
After consuming the quart-sized margarita, my sister thought it would be a good idea to take a picture of the falls lit up in the dark of night. We headed by car to the falls, where to my surprise, I would be the one photographing the amazing sight. My sister handed me a camera and instructed me to go to the side of the bridge. Having just consumed the monstrous margarita, my balance was less than perfect.
With the camera in my hand, I wobbled unsteadily towards the falls to soon realize that I might take a fall of my own. I quickly snapped the picture, which by the way didn't come out, and hurried my way back to the car to find my sister laughing hysterically at me.
After this humorous event, I learned a valuable lesson, alcohol and balance can be an unsettling combination. One should only attempt photography when they are sober.
Hahaha I like the moral of the story :)
ReplyDeletePractice makes perfect.
ReplyDeleteStart with a cheap camera though.
p.s. how long did you stay?
Its nice that your sister was more concerned with getting a good picture than the life of her family member :)
ReplyDeleteIt really sucks that you need a passport to cross into Canada now...
ReplyDeleteSounds like my kind of trip! At least she didn't ask you to paint the falls while you were drunk!
ReplyDeletewords to live by.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, yee old (or young) Canadian drinking age. Now I recall why I so enjoyed our college weekend trips to Montreal.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the falls photo didn't come out. But the pic of you with the monstrous drink is fun!
